Mardi Gras Evening
February 27, 2011The Lithuanian Canadian Community (Ottawa Chapter) is organizing a Mardi Gras evening on Saturday, March 12, 5:30 p.m. at the Peace Latvian Lutheran Church Hall, 83 Main St. (corner of Lees and Main St.)
Evening program includes:
▪ Dance instruction/demonstration. Cha Cha and Tango (optional Rumba)
▪ Pot luck. Bring traditional Shrove Tuesday foods and your favourite refreshments!
Join your Lithuanian friends for a fun MARDI GRAS evening
▪ Dance – your own style with opportunity to practice cha cha and tango
P.S. Prize for the best mask! ☺
Come one! Come all! Bring your friends!!! Kids are welcome – Special table and treats for them
This is a pot luck social – NO admission fee!

Meet the Estonian skiiers at the Gatineau Loppet
February 18, 2011Come along to meet and greet Estonian skiers participating in the Gatineau Loppet! We are getting together at the Earl of Sussex (A-431 Sussex Drive) on Saturday, February 19th, at 6 PM. Reservation made for the Embassy of Estonia. First round of drinks on us!
The Embassy will be present at the Ski Show as well.

December 13, 2010Jõulukiriku teenistus armulauaga toimub laupäeval, 18. detsembril, kell 15.00 p.l., Latvian Peace Ev. Lutheran kirikus, Main ja Lees tänavate nurgal, Jõulujutlus: Õp. Kalle Kadakas Torontost, Orelil: Carol Gurofsky, Tsellol: Jan Jarvlepp.
Jõulupuu ja koosviibimine järgnevad vahetult (umb. kell 5 p.l.) Ottawa Eesti Seltsi ja Pauluse Koguduse ühisel korraldusel kiriku suures saalis keldrikorral.
EESKAVA: On oodata jõuluvana. Kõik Ottawa lapsed ja noored (vanusepiiri ei ole!) on teretulnud esinema. Jõulupakid lastele: tellimisi ($10) võtab vastu Helen Naarits tel: (613) 789-4222.

The Estonian Christmas Church Service will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18th at the Latvian Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, at the corner of Main and Lees St., with Pastor Kalle Kadakas from Toronto officiating.
The service will be followed at approximately 5 p.m., by our traditional Christmas family gathering with a visit from Santa. All children (and anyone else who is young at heart) are invited to come and participate in the program. To register your child to receive a present from Santa please contact ($10) Helen Naarits at (613) 789-4222.
Everyone is asked to contribute to the evening’s potluck table.

Join author, adventurer and son of an Estonian refuge, Eric Enno Tamm for a talk and slide show about his latest book, “The Horse That Leaps through Clouds: A Tale of Espionage, the Silk Road and the Rise of Modern China.” He’ll be giving a fascinating talk and vivid slide show with photographs, maps and charts about how he retraced the epic journey of a Russian spy, Gustaf Mannerheim, who trekked from St. Petersburg to Beijing a century ago along the Silk Road.
Questions and discussion with the audience will follow and signed books will be available for purchase.

November 18, 2010Sel aastal järjekordselt lauldakse eesti jõululaulu European Union Christmas Concert’il Notre Dame Cathedral’is. Üritus toimub 10.detsembril, reedel, kell 7p.l.
Eesti lauluks on “Jõuluingel” O.Ehala/L.Tungal.
Renee Olo koor ,the Ottawa Children’s Choir, on üks osalejatest.
The European Union Christmas Concert will be taking place at Notre Dame Cathedral on Friday December 10th at 7 p.m. The Estonian song being presented is “Jõuluingel” O.Ehala/L.Tungal.
The Ottawa Children’s Choir in which Renee Olo sings, will be participating.
